accessibility rant about PDF's

You know what the most infuriating thing about PDF's is? They render for screen readers differently depending on what program you use, even if it is "accessible"! Chrome? Pretty good. Adobe reader? Oh hey I thought that part was at the bottom not the top. Word? Wait there was a heading there? Like it's stupid and needs to dissolve in acid.

@devinprater the file itself is very much that chaotic too.
Paragraphs may be split vertically down the middle into two separate groups for no damn reason. And at least with previous versions of Acrobat, adding accessibility would make it more bizarre.

@antijingoist Wow. Really? There's no section marker or something?Or column rather?

@devinprater not really. it prioritizes visual appearance on a page.
So when I would try to automate reading them I had to see what they looked like on the backend first, and then use that to figure out what to search for. Sometimes words would have spaces after every letter. Sometimes the header information would be in the bottom. As long as it looked good on the printed page I don’t think anyone cared

@antijingoist Oh wow. That's, yeah that's pretty bad.
